Auckland Scooter Street Jam 2025

Auckland Scooter Street Jam 2025

The Auckland Street Jam went down on the 24th of May, and let me tell you... it wasn’t just a jam, it felt like a reunion, a big get together for our one big family in the scene of scootering.

This wasn’t your typical open invite jam. Yeah, we it was called invite only, but really, it was just a lowkey link-up for the riders who’ve been around for a minute. R18 for a reason, tricks for beers were on the agenda. So, we kept it off the radar from the wider (and younger) scooter community. Not out of exclusion, but to make it feel like how jams used to be.

Huge props to Just Scootering and Jordan Chan for pulling it all together. I honestly didn’t expect the turnout it got. People drove and flew in from all over the country to be here. It felt like everyone who needed to be there, was there.

Spot One — The Icebreaker

We kicked off at Vic Park, then rolled to the first spot. A ride-on ledge to rail. The hop on was mellow, but the drop off that rail was large. It was one of those spots you either love or avoid. I won’t spoil the clips, you’ll have to watch the full video. But I will say this, Michael Wilson did a 50-50 whip front scoot on his huge setup. It was mental.

Spot Two — K' Road Rail

Next spot was a mission away, on Karangahape Road. An 11-stair rail, steeper than it looks. Before anyone even boardslid it, Tokio casually threw down both BS and FS 50-50s first go. What??

I got stuck in too, managed a BS5-0, chink to backlip, FS5050… just couldn’t stop riding it. Me and Jacob Hanning were trading off non-stop. He wrapped it up though, with a whip front lip and a bar front lip. We split the $100 prize. Stoked!

Spot Three — The Flat-bar Gap

Down the road was a flatbar-to-gap-to-flatbar setup. Looks chill… until you realise the gap is no joke. I thought nobody would touch it. Then Tokio, again, blew minds: BS5050 on the first rail, hopped the whole damn gap, landed FS5050 on the second. One of the wildest things I’ve ever seen, and heartbreakingly, no one filmed it. Other than the gap, this flat-bar spot was a calm send and pretty much everyone in attendance got involved, was sick to see.

Spot Four — Lacquered Ledge

Next up was a down/up ledge DG had prepped the night before with lacquer and wax, hoping it’d slide smooth. Spoiler... it didn’t. People still people threw down though, or got thrown down. A few heavy slams here. Rough ledge, but a proper test of grit. Another pretty calm spot, before the big ender.

Final Spot — Bear Trap Madness

Last spot was the double down rail at Aotea Square. This beast has two parallel rails with a gap between them. We call it the Bear Trap. Get caught in the middle and you’re f***ked.

Jordan kicked things off with a BS5050 first go, setting the tone. Me and Jacob Hanning were on the fence… then Tokio, yet again, walks up and BS5050s it like it’s nothing. But he wasn’t done.

He goes back up… and BS5050s down one side, hops the gap mid-rail, and lands BS5050 on the other side.
Like… what??

Jordan got inspired and matched it... full send. Everyone lost it.

That was my cue to balls up and do it. So I got up there and hit a BS5050, but let’s be real, what they did made it feel like a board slide at Vic Park. Tokio wasn’t finished either. He went for a Predator: BS5050 down the first, hopped the gap, and landed FS5050 on the second. Nobody’s doing predators at this scale. Nobody. He stuck it first go as well...

He tried to clean it up and do it better, but the second attempt had him hitting the floor. Turns out he fractured his wrist. Straight up warrior.

Also, shout out to Hanning. He did send the rail, got into the BS5050, made it halfway before bailing and rolling down the steps. Respect, this thing ain't a joke.

Tricks for Beers, and After Hours

We wrapped the day up around Aotea, chilled out and hit a few more spots. Jordan showed up with a few boxes of beers and we did a “tricks for beers” mini jam to close things out. Great way to finish things off.

Later that night… well, we won’t go into too much detail, but let’s just say the jam continued. Just off the streets. 🍻

Final Thoughts

The whole event felt like one big full-circle moment for the scene. No pressure. No clout-chasing. Just a bunch of riders who’ve been in it for the long haul, reconnecting, sending it, and celebrating why we ride in the first place.

Massive thank you to Jordan and Just Scootering. And for everyone who made the trip, thank you for pulling up and making it an unforgettable jam.

See you all at the next one.
